May in Review

While things felt a bit quieter during the second half of the month, the team were still kept busy and we finished up with a record number of properties captured for the month of May. We are still seeing a lot of new listings coming through across the state but the days on market is increasing and the feedback we receive from agents is they need to be priced perfectly to get results. Under these market conditions it is more important than ever to make sure each property is shown in it’s best light with photography of the highest quality.

The new members of our team have been busy on jobs and continuing their training. We have also been working hard behind the scenes with the whole team sharing our experiences and working to improve the quality of visual content we deliver to our clients. As things get quieter heading into winter it is a great opportunity for us to spend some time on training and improving processes so we are ready for a busy Spring.

We continued to photograph a variety of vacant land; residential blocks, rural acreage and also large allotments on the outskirts of Melbourne for potential developments. Keep scrolling for a feature on land photography and the different ways we capture it.

Product Insight - Land Photography

Capturing vacant land can often be very challenging. Whether it is a residential dirt block or larger acreage it can be difficult to capture the site in a visually appealing way, whilst also providing the potential purchaser with the information they need. It requires a combination of ground and drone shots to show the block size, features and also the location with surrounding landmarks. Often we will also include some lifestyle images of nearby parks, schools or cafes that will give an overall impression of the area in an appealing way. These shots also need to be shot in a different way to make them stand out in online advertising.

A drone flyover video can also be useful to showcase the block and any surrounding landmarks - the video can include text, graphics and markers to highlight these landmarks and any relevant information about the block.

One other product that can be useful to advertise vacant land is a site plan. This is a graphical representation of the block with land size and any other useful information.

Contact us if you require any further information on the land packages we have available.

Meet our photographer Olya

How long have you worked in real estate photography?

Hmm good question, let me find it. Looks like 6 years if I’m right.

What is your background in photography?

I have always loved photography and started my way with B&W films and a red (black) room in our small bathroom when I was 15. When we moved to Australia I went to RMIT University and completed a Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my free time between mowing grass around our small farm, collecting firewood, controlling weeds, clearing paddocks, I like to spend with my horses or taking images of insects, horses and dogs.  Also when morning is foggy and quiet i like to put my drone and fly around the farm. It’s amazing how differently sunrise looks from the bird’s eye view.

What do you love most about your job?

It’s never the same. Different people have different houses, different lands and different styles. Always something new or something challenging you so this job can’t be boring.

Favourite holiday destination?

Don’t have it yet but I love to spend some time near a good sea with blue water and corals. At this moment I really want to visit my parents and friends in Russia. We have not been there for 4 years. The first was Coronavirus and then war.

Favourite Movie?

‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door’ 1997

What’s your favourite TV Show?

“How I met your Mother”
“The Big Bang Theory”
“Friends”
also we are big fans of “Star Trek “ and watched all series

What’s your favourite book?

When I was a teenager I loved to read. My favourite writers were Alexandre Dumas and Jules Verne. Now all my books are about dogs behaviour, horses behaviour, hooves and land management.

What music do you listen to?

About music I really have no preference. My taste in music depends on my mood. One day it can be Frank Sinatra, and another it can be Pink or Aerosmith.

Favourite food?

I like fruits. Can’t live without it. But if we are talking about cuisine I like Chinese.

Favourite restaurant?

Haven’t found it yet.

Drink of choice?

My morning starts with coffee. Without coffee I can't move.  So yes - coffee my favourite drink.
